Athletics Walk Off Tigers on Brown Single in 13th Inning of Wild Back-and-Forth Affair

Oakland Athletics' Sean Brown delivered a two-out single in the bottom of the 13th inning, giving the Athletics a 10-9 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

The game was tied 7-7 after nine innings, and the two teams traded runs in the 10th, 11th, and 12th innings before Brown's heroics.

The Athletics took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning on a three-run home run by Dermis Garcia, but the Tigers came back to tie the game in the third inning on a two-run homer by Jeimer Candelario and an RBI single by Javier Baez.

The Athletics regained the lead in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Nick Allen, but the Tigers tied the game again in the fifth inning on an RBI double by Harold Castro.

The Athletics took a 7-5 lead in the sixth inning on a two-run homer by Seth Brown, but the Tigers tied the game again in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Victor Reyes and a sacrifice fly by Candelario.

The Athletics had a chance to win the game in the ninth inning, but Seth Brown was thrown out at home plate trying to score on a sacrifice fly by Garcia.

The Tigers took an 8-7 lead in the 10th inning on an RBI single by Reyes, but the Athletics tied the game again in the 11th inning on an RBI single by Garcia.

The Tigers took a 9-8 lead in the 12th inning on an RBI single by Baez, but the Athletics tied the game again in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Shea Langeliers.

With two outs in the bottom of the 13th inning, Sean Brown singled to right field, scoring pinch-runner Bethancourt from second base.

The Athletics' bullpen was outstanding, allowing just two runs on six hits over the final seven innings of the game. Domingo Acevedo (1-0) picked up the win, while Gregory Soto (0-2) took the loss.
