WNBA Draft: Chicago Sky Selects Celeste Taylor

Former Texas Longhorn to Join Sky

Chicago Sky Selects Celeste Taylor with 13th Pick

The Chicago Sky made a splash in the first round of the 2023 WNBA Draft, selecting Celeste Taylor with the 13th overall pick. Taylor, a 6'2" forward from the University of Texas, is widely regarded as one of the best prospects in the draft.

Taylor enjoyed an illustrious career at Texas. She was a three-time All-Big 12 selection and was named the Big 12 Player of the Year in 2023. She was also an All-American honorable mention. Taylor is known for her versatility on the court, with the ability to play both inside and outside.

The Chicago Sky are hoping that Taylor can make an immediate impact on the team. The Sky finished the 2023 season with a 16-20 record, missing the playoffs. Sky General Manager and Head Coach James Wade believes that Taylor can help the team take the next step.

“We are excited to add Celeste to our team,” Wade said. "She is a talented player with a bright future. We think she can be a valuable contributor right away.”

Taylor is expected to play a significant role for the Sky in the upcoming season. She will be counted on to provide scoring, rebounding, and defense.

The Chicago Sky will open the 2023 season on May 19th, when they host the Indiana Fever.
